The Dar al Islam Teachers' Institutes have been held at our famous facilities in Abiquiu, New Mexico since 1994.
Our goal is to enable educators to teach about Islam with greater confidence. Participants gain a deeper understanding of the basic tenets of Islam, and see firsthand how Islam works in the daily lives of the program’s Muslim faculty and staff.
Through discourse, study of texts, and interaction with Muslims, some of the questions we seek to address include:
Join the Pitt Muslim Alumni Network and the African-American Alumni Council for an evening of poetry, reflections, an exhibit from America's Islamic Heritage Museum, and a presentation from the museum's director, Amir Muhammad. Come learn about America’s rich extensive Islamic history dating back to the 16th century, while exploring some of the lives and events of the 17th, 18th and 19th century of Muslims heritage and their contributions and narratives in America.
In this episode of "Ask The Imam" series, Imam Abdul Aziz Suraqah will address the following questions:

How do we interact with transgenders in light of Islamic laws governing gender interactions?
Is it permissible to wish others 'Merry Christmas'?

CCAS is hosting Dr. Mona El-Ghobashy, author of the critically acclaimed book Bread and Freedom: Egypt’s Revolutionary Situation (Stanford University Press) and Dr. Atef Said, author of the forthcoming book Revolution Squared: Tahrir, Political Possibilities and Counter-Revolution in Egypt (Duke University Press). The program is presented in partnership with scholars and programs at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and Freie Universität Berlin.
