K- 12 Distinguished Awards in Teaching Research Program

K-12 teachers can spend 3-6 months WITH FULL FUNDING abroad on a U.S. government-sponsored program through the Distinguished Awards in Teaching Research Program, Participants must complete an individual inquiry project related to education in the U.S. or the host country, take courses (in English) at a host university, and share educational practices with colleagues. K_ 12 Educators spend summer in the West Bank

A FUNDED 5-week summer school teaching position in Ramallah, West Bank, at a really nice International Baccalaureate Palestinian school. The program goes from June 24th-July 28th, and they need teachers to teach English to K-9th grade students (not in the same class, of course) and high school teachers to teach Model UN, research writing, and test prep and/or do college counseling for 10th-11th grade students. The school will pay up to $1,500 for flight reimbursement, will provide living accommodations, and will give you a $1,350 stipend for food, tours, etc.

Council of American Overseas Research Centers

Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC) is presenting three FULLY-FUNDED Faculty Development Seminars for community college and MSI faculty.
-"Diversity, Religion, and Migration in West Africa" will take place in Senegal from January 6-22, 2020 (application deadline: September 30, 2019).
- "Jordan: Sustainability at the Margins" will run from January 2-17 (Application deadline: October 4).
-"Exploring Urban Sustainability through India's Cities" will go from December 26-January 10 (application deadline: September 16).

Dar al Islam Summer Institute

If you want to learn about Islam so that you can teach about the subject but want to be sure the program is reputable and not trying to convert you, here’s the one you want: The Dar al Islam summer institute. It’s a FREE 2-week summer program, from July 7-20, in rural Abiquiu, New Mexico. The program is offered at NO COST to educators – meals, lodging, even transportation from the Albuquerque Airport is provided!

Cultural Immersion Program to Cairo

The American Middle East Institute is organizing a two-week cultural immersion program to Cairo for students interested in experiencing Modern Egypt, learning Introductory Arabic, viewing Egyptian Antiquities, and learning the History of Egypt and the Arab World. This Program could contribute to coursework in Abrahamic Religions, Africana Studies, Ancient Egypt, the Arab World, and/or International Studies.

Summer Language Institute

The University of Pittsburgh’s Slavic, East European, and Near Eastern Summer Language Institute has offered intensive summer language courses for over 25 years. With a focus on critical and less commonly taught languages, Pitt’s SLI provides courses in Arabic, Bosnian /Croatian/ Serbian, Bulgarian, Czech, Hungarian, Persian (Farsi), Polish, Russian, Slovak, Turkish, and Ukrainian. Whether students choose to study on Pitt’s campus or on one of the SLI’s many abroad programs, they can expect to cover approximately one academic year’s worth of course work during a single summer.
