International Cinema Sunday at Carnegie Library

Winner of the Grand Prix in Cannes, this fascinating story begins as a small caravan of cars snakes its way through the nocturnal countryside in the Turkish outback – looking for where a murdered man was buried. But every time the confessed killer points out the grave, the gravediggers come up empty. As the increasingly frustrating investigation wears on, far more is revealed than where the body is buried. Acclaimed director Ceylan (Climates) slowly reveals a festering world of jealousies and resentments, as the real story behind the murder gradually emerges. In the beautifully filmed landscape nothing is what it seems. (Nuri Bilge Ceylan; Turkey; 2011; 150 min)
