Pittsburgh's Potluck for Palestine in the Steel City, comes together to share food, art, history and stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters occupied and oppressed here and around the world. From Pittsburgh to Gaza, Baltimore to the West Bank, the group seeks to build community and amplify the suppressed voices of those suffering from police brutality, discriminatory legislation, and institutionalized execution.

Global crises are rising and getting worse, and there is a shortage of people to work in the field of humanitarian aid and disaster relief. La Roche College’s Global Development and Humanitarian Aid Training Program offers the chance to learn about working in these fields through an intense five-day workshop.
With local and global experts, real-world simulation experiences and interactive classes, participants will leave with a strong understanding of key concepts, trends and essential knowledge necessary to succeed in this field on both a domestic and international level.

Camp De Thiaroye is a true story that was hidden by the French colonial regime until this film. In 1944, after defeating the Nazis and liberating Paris in World War II, a group of African soldiers – from all over West Africa – report to a transit camp near Dakar. Many of the soldiers were prisoners of war of the Germans following the fall of France in 1940.
The public is invited to ICP's annual outreach event Humanity during the sacred month of Ramadan, when ICP invites it’s friends and neighbors of all faiths to celebrate and honor members of the Pittsburgh who embody the change we want to see through their compassion and inspirational vision benefiting our city of Pittsburgh. Qatar Foundation is hosting a fully-funded trip to Qatar and Oman from Dec. 23-January 3. ! The application is due June 22, 2018 (or when they get a good cohort of teachers, whichever comes first.) They will take 15 teachers, who are full-time K-12 teachers, teach at a public or public charter school in the U.S., and can demonstrate that you will use what you learn in the classroom.

What does it mean to be both Muslim and American? You are invited to explore this fascinating and important question this coming summer. You will read compelling texts and conduct engaging field trips as you study the diverse facets of Muslim American identity, both as grounded in the past and as experienced in the present. As an NEH Summer Scholar, you will reflect on and discuss thirty primary source documents and two major academic monographs; visit two mosques; and make a final presentation about how you will integrate teaching about Muslim Americans into your classroom.
