This one credit mini-course is part of a series organized by regions around the world based on their role on the world stage, their importance within the Muslim world, and the critical influence they play in the global community. The series and course seeks to illuminate the various perspectives of the Muslim community around the world.

Join us this fall for an exciting 5-part reading and discussion series: Let’s Talk About It: Muslim Journeys: Literary Reflections. The discussion will be led by local scholar Dr. Christina Michelmore. Dr. Michelmore received her BA from Smith College and her PhD from the University of Pennsylvania, both in history. For seven years she lived and worked in Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, and Pakistan. Until her retirement in 2013, she was chair of the Department of History, Political Science and International Studies at Chatham University.

The Association for the Study of the Middle East and Africa is holding their sixth annual conference entitled Tides of Change: Looking Back and Forging Ahead in the Middle East and Africa on November 21-23, 2013 at the Key Bridge Marriott Hotel in Washington, DC. The keynote address will be given by Michael Young from the Daily Star, Beirut and opening remarks will be given by the Qatari ambassador, H.E. Mohamed bin Abdulla Al-Rumaihi. There will be roundtable discussions and paper presentations as well.
